Hormone Profile Test at iLIV Clinic Damansara Perdana
Quick Answer

This panel measures thyroid, sex hormones and cortisol, the markers behind energy, sleep, mood and cycle changes.

A hormone profile test measures thyroid, sex hormones and cortisol in one panel. Symptoms people usually blame on stress or ordinary ageing, such as persistent fatigue, weight gain with no change in diet, and sleep that does not restore, often have a hormonal basis you can actually measure.

What a hormone profile test includes

  • ThyroidTSH, FT4, FT3, plus antibodies if autoimmunity is suspected
  • Womenestradiol, progesterone, FSH, LH, AMH where relevant
  • Mentotal testosterone, free testosterone, SHBG, estradiol
  • Adrenalmorning cortisol, DHEA-S
  • Othersprolactin, vitamin D, ferritin

The base panel covers TSH, FT4 and FT3 for thyroid function, morning cortisol for the stress axis, and sex hormones according to your sex and life stage. For women that means estradiol, progesterone, FSH and LH, drawn on the correct cycle day. For men it means total and free testosterone alongside SHBG. We add DHEA-S and prolactin when the clinical picture calls for it.

Who this panel suits

  • Women in their forties with changing cycles, flushes or disrupted sleep
  • Men with low energy, muscle loss and flat mood
  • Anyone gaining weight although their diet has not changed
  • Hair loss, dry skin, feeling cold, or a slow pulse

When to take the sample

Timing matters. Cortisol peaks within an hour of waking, so we draw between eight and ten in the morning. For women still cycling, we measure progesterone around day twenty-one and FSH and LH between days two and five. If your cycle is irregular, we will set the date after speaking with you at booking.

Interpretation

How we read a hormone profile test

Lab ranges are population statistics. Someone can sit inside the normal range yet far from optimal for themselves. So the doctor reads numbers alongside symptoms rather than the other way round. Borderline results without symptoms usually need no treatment. Clear symptoms with borderline numbers, however, are often worth investigating further. Read the hormones and midlife pathway and the guide to menopause hormones.

What it cannot do

Limits

One blood sample captures one moment. Hormones shift by hour, day and cycle, so interpretation has to account for when we drew it. Eligibility for any hormone treatment is decided after consultation with a doctor registered with the Malaysian Medical Council, not from a test result alone. Book a consultation.

Frequently Asked

When is the best time to take a hormone sample?

Between eight and ten in the morning for cortisol. For women, progesterone around day twenty-one of the cycle.

What if my cycle is irregular?

We will set the sampling date after speaking with you at booking.

My results are normal but symptoms persist. Why?

Lab ranges are population ranges, not personal targets. The doctor reads numbers alongside symptoms.
