The Ozempic injection: how it is given
The Ozempic injection is weekly, into the abdomen, thigh or upper arm, with the site rotated. The pen is pre-filled and set by a dial rather than measured, and it is kept refrigerated until first use, then at room temperature for a defined window. A pen that has frozen is discarded rather than used.
The dose steps up on a schedule instead of starting at target, which is what keeps nausea manageable. People who start high generally stop within weeks, and stopping early is the most common reason this treatment fails before it has been fairly tested.

Ozempic side effects and which ones to report

Why the diabetes indication matters to you even if you do not have diabetes
This medicine was developed and registered for type 2 diabetes, and the weight effect was observed alongside it. That history shapes two practical things. First, the dose ranges differ between the diabetes and weight-management versions of the same molecule, which is why brand name and dose are not interchangeable. Second, the monitoring is built around glucose, so glucose and HbA1c are the markers that move first and get checked first, often before the scale shows anything.
Buying from unlicensed sources
The Ministry of Health has warned publicly about weight-loss injections obtained outside licensed channels. The practical risks are cold chain and authenticity. These pens need consistent refrigeration, and one that has been warm, frozen or refilled cannot be assessed by looking at it.
Protecting muscle while glucose improves
Rapid weight loss takes muscle unless protein and resistance training are deliberate. Muscle is where most glucose is disposed of after a meal, so losing it works against the metabolic improvement the treatment is meant to produce. What to expect at the first review
The four to six week review is about direction, not a verdict. The doctor is looking at whether appetite has changed, how side effects have settled, what glucose has done, and whether the dose should hold or step up. A small weight change at this point is normal and is not the measure being used. HbA1c averages roughly three months of glucose, so it is not rechecked this early.

Medication is one lever among several and not always the first worth pulling.
