Who this is for
Red light therapy is not UV light, and it is not for tanning or lightening skin. It makes most sense for recurring muscle or joint soreness after training, slow recovery in one specific area, or a skin concern already being managed with a doctor.
- Recurring muscle or joint soreness after training
- Slow recovery in one specific area
- A skin concern already being managed with a doctor
- Looking for recovery without medication and without joint load
How it runs
Current medicines are reviewed, since some antibiotics and skin treatments increase light sensitivity. Eye protection is worn throughout the session.
- 01A short assessment firstCurrent medicines are reviewed, since some increase light sensitivity.
- 02Session with set distance and durationEye protection is worn throughout. Dose is not increased just because it feels harmless.
- 03Reviewed after a few sessionsIf the agreed target has not moved, we say so rather than continue.

Testing usually done first
Not every test here is ordered for everyone. The consultation decides which are needed.

What we claim and what we do not
| Claim | Our position |
|---|---|
| Burns fat or shapes the body | Not claimed. |
| Raises whole-body energy | Not claimed. The evidence does not support that broad claim. |
| Replaces a skin treatment your doctor prescribed | No. It is used alongside, not instead. |
| Supports skin recovery and muscle or joint pain | This is where the evidence sits, though most studies are small. |
Limits and who this does not suit
Dose matters, and more is not better. Sessions that run too long or too often do not produce a larger result, so the dose is not increased just because it feels harmless.
- Medicines that increase light sensitivity, an unassessed skin lesion, a history of skin cancer, an active eye condition and pregnancy all need to be discussed with the doctor before a first session.
Common questions
Is it the same as a tanning bed?
No. The panel emits red and near-infrared light only. There is no UV, so it does not burn the skin the way sun or a tanning bed does.
Where is the evidence strongest?
With skin, and with muscle and joint pain. Even there, most studies are small and use different devices and doses, so a result in one study does not automatically carry over to another panel.
Can it replace a skin treatment my doctor prescribed?
No. It is used alongside, not instead.
