This test reads variants in your genes linked to nutrient metabolism, inflammation, detoxification and training response.
Genetic testing at iLIV reads variants in your genes linked to nutrient metabolism, inflammation, detoxification and how you respond to training. It is not a hereditary disease test and it is not a prediction. It is one layer of information that stays the same for life, so once is enough.
What this genetic testing panel reads
- Nutrient metabolismfolate, B12, vitamin D, omega-3
- Caffeine and alcohol metabolism
- Inflammatory tendency
- Phase one and phase two detoxification pathways
- Training responseendurance versus power, tendon injury risk
- Sensitivity to carbohydrate and saturated fat
The panel focuses on variants with solid evidence and a practical follow-up. For example, MTHFR variants affect how your body processes folate. Others affect caffeine tolerance, vitamin D requirement, and how muscle recovers after high-intensity training.
How the sample is taken
A cheek swab, not blood. No fasting needed. Avoid eating, drinking, smoking and brushing your teeth for thirty minutes beforehand so nothing else sits in your mouth. Results take three to four weeks, because the sample goes to a specialist laboratory.

How we use the results
Genes are not destiny. A variant tells you about tendency, not outcome. Someone with a variant that slows folate conversion can still hold good folate levels if their diet suits. Therefore we always read genetic results alongside current bloods such as a health screening. Genetics gives context; blood gives today.
Limits
This panel does not test hereditary cancer genes such as BRCA, does not diagnose disease, and does not replace clinical genetic counselling. If you have a worrying family history, that is a separate conversation with a genetics specialist. See the Ministry of Health Malaysia for standards. Book a consultation to discuss whether it suits you.
Frequently Asked
Can genetic testing detect cancer risk?
No. This panel does not test hereditary cancer genes such as BRCA. That needs separate clinical genetic counselling.
Do I need to repeat it?
No. Your DNA does not change, so once in a lifetime is enough.
How long do results take?
Three to four weeks, because the sample goes to a specialist laboratory.
