Metabolic Check: Find What Is Holding Your Weight

Reviewed by Dr Shazif Othman · MMC 62699

Quick Answer

Two doctor consultations, two InBody body composition analyses, and a baseline metabolic blood panel. The first visit already gives you a body composition picture, and the second visit is the results session with the doctor.

Many people arrive at the clinic after years of trying on their own. The diet has been tried, the gym has been tried, and the weight has not moved. The question left is why.
A metabolic check answers that question with numbers rather than guesswork.

Who this check is for

If you are looking for a prescription without an assessment first, this package is not for you. The assessment is the product.

  • You have tried to lose weight on your own without success
  • Weight comes back every time after it goes down
  • There is a family history of diabetes or heart disease
  • You want to know your metabolic state before making any treatment decision

What is included

  • Two doctor consultations
  • Two body composition analyses using InBody
  • A baseline metabolic blood panel covering full blood count, cholesterol profile, renal profile, liver profile, uric acid, bone health markers, urinalysis, fasting glucose and HbA1c
  • A discount on additional biomarkers, including inflammatory markers, hormones such as insulin, thyroid, adrenal, sex and pituitary hormones, and nutritional biomarkers such as vitamin D, magnesium, B12, iron and ferritin
  • A personal weight management protocol based on your results

What happens at each visit

The first visit starts with body composition analysis and a doctor consultation, followed by the blood draw. You leave the same day with a picture of your body composition, even though the blood results are not back yet.
The second visit is the results session. The doctor goes through every marker that has moved, what it means, and what to do about it. The personal protocol is written at this visit, not before.

Why body composition, not just the scale

A scale cannot tell fat from muscle. Two people at the same weight can be in very different metabolic states, depending on where the fat sits and how much muscle is there.
That is why the body composition test is done twice, so change can be compared rather than assumed. The full background sits in how to calculate BMI and why BMI is only a starting point.

What results can and cannot show

This panel shows your metabolic state on the day of testing, meaning how your body handles sugar, fat and inflammation, and how your liver and kidneys are functioning.
It does not diagnose every condition, and it is not a cancer screen. If something in the results needs further investigation, the doctor says so and refers you appropriately.

The limits of this package

This check gives you a picture, not a solution. It does not replace habit change, and it does not guarantee any amount of weight loss. Response differs between individuals, and we do not promise numbers.
Some people finish here, with a protocol they run themselves. Others continue into a longer programme. Both are valid decisions.

Next step

Pricing is given on enquiry and at consultation. We do not display prices on this page while advertising approval for the website is being arranged.

Frequently Asked

Do I need to fast before the test?

Yes, for fasting glucose and the lipid profile. The clinic tells you the exact fasting period when you book.

How long do blood results take?

Usually a few working days, depending on the panel. The second visit is scheduled once results are in.

Why two body composition analyses?

One reading only gives a point. Two readings give a direction, and direction is what matters.
