Heart and Metabolic Health
High cholesterol, rising blood pressure, or a family history that makes you want to know where you actually stand.

A basic lipid panel does not tell the whole story. Particle count and inflammation give a sharper picture of risk.
A useful heart health assessment looks further than the four numbers on a standard lipid panel. Plenty of people receive a reassuring report, although nobody measured the markers that actually predict risk. So this pathway suits people who want to know where they stand before symptoms appear.

Who should check heart health earlier
- Age forty and over with one or more risk factors
- Family history of heart attack before fifty-five
- High cholesterol, high blood pressure or diabetes
- Current or former smokers
- Waist over 90 cm for men, or 80 cm for women
Why a normal LDL does not mean low risk
The LDL on your lab report counts the cholesterol inside LDL particles rather than the particles themselves. So two people with identical LDL can carry very different particle counts. The one carrying more small dense particles faces higher risk, because every particle is another chance to enter the artery wall. ApoB counts those particles directly. Lp(a), meanwhile, is genetic and worth measuring once in a lifetime, since knowing it changes how hard we push everything else.
What we measure for heart health
We start with an advanced lipid panel covering ApoB, Lp(a) and the omega-3 index. Then we add a metabolic assessment, because insulin resistance changes LDL particle size. If you want a blood flow check without radiation, MCG cardiac screening takes under ten minutes and needs no treadmill. The Bahasa Melayu pathway covers the same detail.
Two cheap measurements that matter most
Take your blood pressure properly, after sitting quietly for five minutes, and repeat it twice. That single habit carries as much information as many blood tests. Waist circumference, meanwhile, flags visceral fat, which links straight to metabolic risk. Both cost nothing, and you can track them at home.
When to go to emergency instead
Chest pain, sudden breathlessness, or pain radiating to the arm or jaw needs a hospital emergency department rather than a clinic. The Ministry of Health Malaysia publishes the lipid guidance we follow. Book a consultation.
Frequently Asked
At what age should heart screening start?
Forty and over if risk factors are present, or earlier with a family history of early heart disease.
What is the difference between ApoB and LDL?
LDL measures cholesterol inside particles. ApoB counts the particles, which is a more consistent risk marker.
Does MCG screening use radiation?
No radiation, no contrast agent, and no treadmill test.
